A diverse group of farmers, customers, and representatives from the county schools, hospital, Department of Social Services and Health Department met in December 2012 to discuss local food in Lincoln County. On the agenda was information about local and regional efforts to promote local food sources. Facilitated by Cooperative Extension agent Leigh Guth, the group examined the following:
- What are challenges and pathways to get local food into restaurants, institutions, schools and day cares?
- Who needs to be part of the conversation, and what other questions should be asked about local food?
Click on the links above to see the responses to each question.
This group will continue to meet throughout 2013 to share information and plan action steps for promoting local food as an accessible and nutritious choice for Lincoln County. Contact Leigh Guth at the Extension office if you would like to participate.
