Lincoln County 4-H Information

Head, Heart, Hands, Health

What is 4-H?

4-H is the largest youth organization in the United States with more than 7 million participants. 4-H is best identified by its green four-leaf clover with an H on each leaf. The four H’s on the emblem stand for Head, Heart, Hands, and Health. 4-H is the only youth organization based at land-grant universities and the first experience many youth have with higher education. 4-H youth participate in various hands-on programs which encompass many different areas such as STEM, Healthy Living, Public Speaking, Environmental Science, Animal Science, Horticulture, Cooking, Sewing, Arts & Dance, and Civic Engagement in a positive environment. These youth receive guidance from adult mentors and are encouraged to take on proactive leadership roles within their county, district, state, and region. 4-H is open to youth between the ages of 5 and 18. 5-7 year old youth are Cloverbuds and 6-18 year old youth are 4-H Members.

Program Areas

School Enrichment

Is a sequence of learning experiences for groups of youth, in cooperation with school officials during school hours to support the school curriculum. Our Lincoln County 4-H Staff offers various programs each year which can be seen through our 4-H School Enrichment Menu (updating and link provided soon). Here educators can look at our available programs and schedule with either the 4-H Agent (Tanya Binafif) or the 4-H Program Assistant (Sara Gales) to teach a hands-on program with their students.

4-H Club

A  4-H Club is an organized group of at least five youth from three different families who meet regularly with adult volunteers or staff for a long-term, progressive series of educational experiences. This can be done through many different ways such as: In-School 4-H Club, After School 4-H Club, SPIN Club, or a Community 4-H Club. Each club has a unique structure to meet the needs of the youth.
