The Great Southeast Pollinator Census is Almost Here!

Join Lincoln County Master Gardeners on Friday, August 21st and Bee a Part of Citizen Science

Pollinators are essential to our local habitats, home gardens, and food production and need to be protected. The first step in that protection is building an understanding of their population and behavior. To support this understanding, the University of Georgia Extension began the Great Southeast Pollinator Census asking community members to provide data from across the Southeast on the number of pollinators in their very own backyards. This data allows scientists to generate a better understanding of pollinator behavior across the Southeast.

This year Lincoln County Master Gardener Volunteers will be hosting an event where you can help in this valuable citizen science project. Join us at the Rock Springs Nature Preserve in Denver where Master Gardener Volunteers maintain a native pollinator garden. We will provide you with a count sheet and explain the process of identifying and counting pollinators. Come by anytime between 10am and 12pm (noon), the activity itself will only take you 15 minutes.
