Are you a restaurant owner or food service manager looking for an opportunity to improve your food safety culture, or promote your staff to leadership roles?

Managers successfully completing the National Registry of Food Safety Professionals Food Manager Certification exam meet the FDA Food Code [2022] requirement for a Certified Food Protection Manager. This certificate not only meets the same requirement in North Carolina but is also good throughout the United States for five years.

Safe Plates for Food Managers is a two-day course, consisting of one full day of instruction and one day of review + the examination. The course is based on the 2022 FDA Food Code and was developed by NC State Extension Retail Food Safety specialists. Unique to this retail food protection manager certification, material is presented through a behavior-based lens that incorporates real world case studies to develop critical thinking skills of food managers. All participants receive a copy of a study guide and printed slide deck from the 10 modules. The cost of $140 includes the study materials, the exam and a re-test (if needed). Reduced rates for groups of 3 or more are available.

This course will be held every 2 months at various Cooperative Extension Offices in the Western Piedmont region for the year 2024. Participating counties include Lincoln, Alexander, Catawba, Iredell and Wilkes. Be sure to register at least two weeks in advance and pay to secure your spot.
